A new center for the Jewish youth of this city has been opened here. The center was made possible by grants from the Joint Distribution Committee and the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany. It is located in the building which houses Jewish communal offices.

There are an estimated 400 Jewish youths between the ages of 12 and 20 now living here. Their new center includes meeting rooms, lounges, a library, a snack bar and classrooms for Hebrew instruction. Work with Jewish youth here is carried on under the direction of the newly appointed Chief Rabbi Benedikt.
