A new Jewish colony, to be occupied by 25 families from Germany and 15 native-born families, was founded today northeast of Nathania.
The colony completes a plan of settlement of small-holders’ groups in the Emek Hefer. It is located on 680 dunams (140 acres) of land owned by the Jewish National fund, Zionist land purchasing agency.
A 10-year development plan has transformed the malarious swamps barren sand dunes inhabited once by a few dozen Bedouin into a rich farming country of 20 Jewish settlements and 3,000 inhabitants.
