New decisions included creation of a primary plan for a new constitution, a basis for measures reorganizing local administration, plans to forbid political activity by civil servants, and suspension of the universities’ autonomy privileges. “Useless” or “prejudiced” publications will be suspended and their “means of existence” will be “controlled.” The new decisions followed announcement of a 14-point government program.
The government tonight opened a fight to undermine the political influence of the extremist and pro-Fascist Iron Guard. Premier Christea will issue orders which will release all the faithful from oaths given to certain organizations said to be illegal.
