The new honors list, awarded at the request of former Prime Minister Harold Wilson, contains the names of several Jews. John Diamond. Chief Secretary to the Treasury, who lost his parliamentary seat in the last election, has been appointed a life peer. A knighthood went to Joseph Kagan, a Yorkshire industrialist, who with his wife survived the Nazitera in the ghetto of Kovno, Poland, and came to England after the war. Mr. Kagan is the inventor of a new type of rainwear, preferred by Mr. Wilson. Also knighted were Leslie Lever, former Lord Mayor of Manchester and a member of Parliament for many years, and Dr. Joseph Stone, Mr. Wilson’s personal physician. Among the new members of the House of Lords are several prominent non-Jewish Anglo-Zionists: Anthony Greenwood, former Minister of Housing; Julian Snow, former Undersecretary of Health and Social Security; Jennie Lee, former Minister of Arts; Alice Bacon, former Minister of State at the Ministry of Education; and Irene White, former Minister of State at the Ministry for Welsh Affairs.
