Ramat Eshkol, a housing project in northeast Jerusalem, was opened yesterday when Housing Minister Mordecai Bentov handed the keys to the apartments to their first residents. Some 96 persons moved into the apartments built on former Jordanian territory which had been unused. Mr. Bentov said the apartments, named for the late President Levi Eshkol, will become available at a rate of 100 to 150 new units per month until the target figure represents the first stage in the project under which 40,000 Jews will move into the new quarters and the restored Jewish Quarter of Jerusalem’s Old City within three years.
