The Social Democratic newspaper “Nepsava” charged this week that the newly-formed Catholic Party is a party of “conspirators and anti-Semitic demonstrators.” It said that the new group, which is designed to combat left-wing elements, has been holding political meetings “every Sunday in one church or another.”

The synagogue of Szeged, which was despoiled and used as a warehouse by the Nazis, has been restored and was once again inaugurated as a house of worship at a ceremony today.

Marton Stern, the chairman of the Jewish Community of Szeged presided at the meeting which was attended by representatives of the government and of all political parties.
