Israel’s new ambassador to Hungary, Joel Alon, is returning here after leaving Hungary in 1949 with his family, all of whom survived the Holocaust.
“It’s a great satisfaction that after 45 years I can return to Hungary as ambassador representing Israel,” Alon said in a telephone interview.
During the Holocaust, Alon, a twin, was a victim of the infamous experiments performed on twins by Auschwitz doctor Josef Mengele.
