Jewish welfare agencies and institutions for the aged will be considerably benefitted, along with non-Jewish agencies and institutions as a result of passage by the State legislature of a measure permitting granting of old age assistance to persons residing in public and private homes.
Previously, aged persons, on entering a publicly or privately supported institution, were cut off from the State’s old age assistance. Under the new legislation, they will be entitled to receive the State grants, thus considerably reducing the cost to Jewish and other communities of maintaining their aged.
