The Jewish Community Center here appeared today to have lost a fight to gain a roadway to a site on which it planned to build a temple.
Bought over a year ago, the site is “land-locked” by a brook, private homes, a school site and an acre of municipal property. The center officials hoped to get approval for a 20-foot wide driveway through the borough-owned plot, but yesterday a municipal official said the request had been denied.
David B. Kuehne, attorney for the Borough Council, said that the municipal property would be used for a park. The land, unused for four and a half years, is situated in a marshy area. Mayor S. Walter Wanner has called it “marginal property.”
