A kosher meat law similar to that in force in New York state was adopted by the New Jersey state Senate. The measure will now come up before the state Assembly, where it has good prospects of being adopted.

According to the provisions of the bill, meat products which are advertised as kosher and offered for sale as such must be kosher in accordance with the term as understood in Rabbinic definition.

The bill was passed in the senate by a unanimous vote, eighteen of the twenty-one senators being present. All the senators are non-Jews.
