Sweeping new legislation outlawing bias in certain types of private housing becomes effective in Massachusetts next Tuesday. The new law makes it illegal for an owner or his agent to discriminate in the sale of rental or dwellings containing three or more housing units and in developments having more than ten houses.
Massachusetts is the fourth state in the Union to adopt such a law dealing with private housing. The new measure will greatly strengthen the powers of the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination. The other states are Connecticut, Oregon and Colorado.
