Palestine will be only five hours by motor road from Cairo when the last 20 miles of the new 140-mile asphalt highway in the western part of the Sinai desert to Ismailia is completed, the London Times reports. Twelve hundred men have been busy all summer laying, at the rate of a mile a day, a black ribbon of asphalt over the sand dunes and stony desert. The new road will replace the rough dry-weather track.
