A new trial of Zionist leaders has been concluded in Rumania and 22 Jews have been sentenced to various terms ranging from three to 20 years imprisonment, it was reported here today by the Committee of Free Rumanians.
The report said that the following persons were sentenced to 20-year terms: Abir Marek, Zeev Lazarovici, Motzi Moscovici, a Mrs. Szold, a Mr. Sattinger, and a Mr. Antonier and his wife. The others received three to eight year sentences. All the defendants have appealed to the Ministry of Justice to set aside the convictions.
Another report received here from Bucharest speaks of the arrest of Mishu Kofler, a Jew who returned to Rumania from Israel. Mr. Kofler was a relative of Romus Kofler, a Rumanian Jew who was recently executed in Bucharest.
Mishu Kofler was released shortly after his arrest when the Israel Legation at Bucharest intervened in his behalf. However, the Rumanian authorities have refused to grant him an exit visa for Israel, which he requested as soon as he was freed.
