The cornerstones of two new villages of private farmers affiliated to the Farmer’s Cooperative Movement (which is not connected with the Histadrut) were laid yesterday on a 12,000 dunam tract of land allocated by the Jewish National Fund near Yavneh, in southern Israel. The farmers’ cooperative plans the establishment of five villages in this area and the future residents of these villages are already building their two-room wooden houses. Each farmer is providing private capital of 1,500 pounds ($4,200). The land set aside for these settlements is of excellent quality. It enjoys a cool climate and has large water resources.
