The Yeshiva College buildings at 186th Street and Amsterdam Avenue, New York, will be formally dedicated on December 9, Samuel Levy, chairman of the Yeshiva College Building Fund, announced yesterday.
The celebration will mark the conclusion of an effort undertaken three years ago by Orthodox Jews in launching a campaign for $5,000,000 to establish the first college under Jewish auspices in the United States where Jewish studies and secular learning will be combined for the training of Rabbis and Jewish community leaders. The freshman year in the Yeshiva College, authorized by the Board of Regents, began this fall with temporar headquarters at the Jewish Center, 131 West 86th Street.
The dedication exercises will last all day, Sunday, December 9, and will be concluded with a $1,000 a plate dinner in the evening.
It is expected that the proceeds of the dinner will amount to at least $1,000,000 which will be turned over to the Yeshiva College Endowment Fund for the maintenance of the institution.
