A wealthy citizen proposed to leave the Academy 200,000 dollars or more, the income of which was to be used for make grants for medical research.
It was stipulated, however, that no grants should be made to Jews, or any individual working in an institution which had a Jew as a member of its board.
The trustees of the New York Academy of Medicine unanimously refused the offer.
