The 300th anniversary of Jewish settlement in the United States, stemming from the arrival in New Amsterdam of 23 Jewish men, women and children in 1954, was marked officially today the New York City Council in a special ceremony. The Council adopted a special resolution taking official cognizance of the observance, and calling on New Yorkers “to join in marking the Tercentenary with public ceremonies, and in all other appropriate ways to share in the observance of this great anniversary.”
