New York City is preparing to pay tribute to the memory of the late Col. David Marcus, supreme Haganah commander on the Jerusalem front, who died from a stray Arab bullet several hours before the Palestine truce became effective. “The city will do its utmost to express its regrets for a former city official and a great citizen,” an announcement today by Mayor William O’Dwyer said.
