Mayor VVincent Impellitteri today welcomed the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra which arrived here to give 55 concerts in 40 cities in the United States and Canada. Dr. Serge Koussevitzky and Leonard Bernstein, who will conduct the orchestra, were among these welcomed by the New York Mayor. Also attending the ceremony was Edward Norman, president of the American Fund for Israel Institutions, which is sponsoring the tour.
