A New York patrolman who studied for five years on his free time, has been certified as a cantor by the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion’s School of Sacred Music and will sing his first service Nov. 9 at the annual memorial rites of the Shomrim Society of the New York City Police Department. Patrolman Ian Cosman, 39, a veteran of 18 years service on the force, has announced he will continue to serve as one of the “city’s finest.”
