The New York City Fire Department said here today that it would issue its official report tomorrow on the blaze Friday night which destroyed the West Side Institutional Synagogue, one of the largest Orthodox synagogues in the city. After being called to the fire shortly after services Friday evening, firemen, accompanied by a number of synagogue members, dashed into the building and succeeded in saving all 24 of the institution’s Torah scrolls even before they began spraying the flames.
