Three new buildings of the Metropolitan League of Jewish Community Association organizations will be dedicated during the month of April, it was announced by Samuel Leff, field secretary of the League. They are the buildings of the Yonkers Jewish Community Center, the Staten Island Jewish Community Center and East Midwood Jewish Center. a newcomer to the League.
The Yonkers and Staten Island organizations will dedicate their buildings on April 14th, while the East Midwood Jewish Center will dedicate its $1,000,000 structure Sunday afternoon, April 7th.
It has also been announced by Judge Joseph M. Proskauer, president of the 92nd Street Y. M. H. A., that work has been started on a new building, which will probably be finished by the end of this year. Another new building in the course of construction is the Jewish Community Center of Port Chester. N. Y. which will house the Y. M. H. A. and Y. W. H. A. of that city.
A testimonial dinner will be tendered to Rabbi Louis D. Gross of the Union Temple. Brooklyn, at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel on Sunday evening, April 21st. The Dinner Committee is headed by Herman N. Hessberg. The dinner is given on the occasion of Dr. Gross’s acceptance of the post of editor of the “Brooklyn Examiner.” and on his taking a sabbatical leave from his congregation.
