Ambassador Abba S. Eban of Israel and four American Jewish leaders were today awarded honorary degrees of Doctor of Humane Letters by New York University at the university’s convocation to commemorate the three hundredth anniversary of Jewish settlement in America. The others honored were:
Leo Jung, rabbi of the Jewish Center of New York; Maximilian Moss, Surrogate of Kings County, New York; Abraham A. Neuman, president of Dropsie College of Philadelphia, and David de Sola Pool, rabbi of the Spanish and Portuguese Synagogue of New York. The principal address was delivered by Ambassador Eban, on “The Relationship Between the United States and the State of Israel.”
