Local Jewish organizations affiliated with the Conference of Jewish Charities are to receive collectively nearly $400,000 of the 1930 Community Chest Campaign quota of $1,344,942.18, it has been announced by Oscar Weingarten, president of the Conference. The latter is a constituent of the Community Chest. The drive will commence early in November and the general quota represents an increase of 8.5 per cent over that sought last year. Several Jewish bodies have received official approval for increased budgets and several have received denials.
Louis Bamberger has accepted the honorary chairmanship of the Jewish committee, and Louis V. Aronson, will act as honorary vice chairman. This committee plans to approach one thousand Jewish prospects before the drive opening. Each of these prospects are expected to contribute between $100 and $500.
