A dinner at the Robert Treat Hotel Saturday evening marked the climax of a five-day celebration of the Diamond jubilee of Temple B’nai Jeshurun of Newark which began with a religious service on Friday evening, participated in by several leading rabbis of America.
The dinner was attended by men and women prominent in all walks of life and including leaders of various civic and religious movements, Jacob L. Newman was the toast master, and the speakers included Philip Lindeman, President of the Temple; Adolph S. Ochs, Abram Metzger, Mrs. Solomon Foster, President of the Women’s Association; Jerome Samuels, President of the Temple Alumni, Nathan J. Miller, Chairman of the New York Committee of the Union of Hebrew Congregation; Dr. David Philipson of Cincinnati, Ohio; Rabbi Solomon Foster of the Temple and Herman L. Karpeles, President of Temple Brotherhood.

The 122 graduating students of the Florence Marshall Schools and the 52 graduated of the Hebrew High School were greeted as future leaders of Jews in an address yesterday by Louis Marshall in Stuyvesant High School.
“Yours is the spirit of the Maccabaeans of old”, he told them, “a spirit that is too seldom noticed in these days of little faith.”
Bernard Semel, Dr. S. Benderly, Joseph Bragin, principal of the Jewish High Schools, and Israel Konowitz, principal of the Florence Marshall Schools, spoke. Siplomas were distributed by Mns. Israel Unterburg.
