Bitterly asasiling the “cruelly calculated policy of persecution in force by the Nazi regime,” Jewish young people, representative of the professional and collegiate elements of the city, at a meeting in the Y.M.Y.W.H.A. last night demanded complete restoration of educational and vocational opportunity for their kinsmen in Germany.
Holding a commencement “in absentia” for German-Jewish students and professionals deprived of their degrees and diplomas because of Hitler ostracism, they urged specifically that the several score Jewish physicians lately arrested “under the false guise of extra-radical activity” be released, and the unwarranted order from the Ministry of Culture for dissolution of Jewish students bodies, be rescinded.
Speakers at the meeting were: President Carl G. Erickson, of Upsala College, East Orange, and Herbert C. Hunsaker, dean of Seth Boyden School, affiliate of Dana College, Erwin I. Meyer, president of the Young Folks League of the Schley Street Synagogue, and Fred S. Frankel presented resolutions adopted by the meeting.
