Jerusalem become a non-city today as for as the Israeli press was concerned. Because of a one day strike by the entire Israeli corps of Jerusalem’s journalists, readers of tomorrow’s newspapers will have no way of knowing what happened there today–including the special Cabinet meeting which voted against Premier Menachem Begin accepting President Carter’s invitation to attend a Camp David summit conference.
The journalists strike was called in support of the radio and television journalists whose union contract, which was to have been initialed last October by the government, has still not been signed. The print media journalists concluded a contract last October and the Broadcasting Authority agreement was supposed to have followed within a few days.
