The World Zionist Organization has embarked on a spiritual “awakening drive” on the occasion of the High Holidays. It will send a group of rabbis abroad for a minimum of two years of service with overseas Jewish communities, it was announced this week. The rabbis will go to Venice, Nice, Vienna, Stockholm, Marseilles, and to several Latin American communities including, for the first time, Bolivia. The WZO will supply ritual articles and tens of thousands of Jewish calendars in several languages. The ritual articles will include prayer books, prayers howls and shofars for small communities unable to obtain them locally.
