Yigal Allon, chairman of the World Labor Zionist Movement and former Deputy Premier of Israel, said here that it is a “great pity” a stalemate exists between Egypt and Israel on achieving peace. Nevertheless, both parties should make an effort to conclude peace as soon as possible, he stated. Addressing a press conference here last Friday sponsored by the Labor Zionist Alliance, Allon, who is presently a Knesset member and a leader of the Labor Party, observed that President Anwar Sadat of Egypt and his colleagues have panicked because of the recent summit conference in Baghdad of the “rejection front.” Nevertheless, he said, Egypt must live up to the commitments undertaken at Camp David. Allon is in the U.S. to meet with LZA leaders and visit LZA groups and branches.
