Zionists in this section of the country are making ready to attend the forthcoming conference of the Seaboard Zionist Region to be held at Newport News, Va., Sunday and Monday, May 12th and 13th, at the Hotel Warwick, which is to be the headquarters of the Conference.

The seventieth birthday celebration of Dr. Chaim Zhitlowsky, author, lecturer and philosopher, will be held at the Y. M. and Y. W. H. A. May 5. The Jubilee Committee is now shaping plans for this occasion at which Dr. Zhitlowsky himself will be one of the principal speakers.

An extended Zionist membership drive began here yesterday (Tuesday). Rabbi Benjamin Lichter and Harry Dobin are president and chairman of the campaign committee.

The first anniversary of the local chapter of the National Conference of Jews and Christians has been tentatively set for May 29. Officers include Catholics, Jews and Mormons and representatives of all leading denominations.

About 100 of the leading citizens of Brooklyn have organized a committee of sponsors to tender a dinner on April 28 in honor of Michael Gold on the occasion of his assumption of the office of chairman of the Bensonhurst-Bor Park-Coney Island District of the Brooklyn division of the Jewish Education Association.

New York University will celebrate the Maimonides octocentenary May 3 with a special gathering arranged by the Hebrew language classes of the University jointly with Philosophical Society and the Menorah Society of the University, it was announced yesterday.
