Formal organization of the council will be completed at a dinner meeting next Monday evening at the Hotel astor. Admission to the dinner is by invitation card at twentyfive dollars per plate. Funds raised at the dinner will be put at the disposal of the emergaecy defense fund of the American Jewish Congress.

Speakers at the inner will include Adermanic President Bernard S. Deutsch. Who is also president of the American Jewish Congress; Dr. John Haynes holmes, Dr. Stephen S. Wise, honorary president of the Congress, and Cornelius Vanderbilt, Jr.

“The organization of the merchandising council to combat Nazi propaganda in this country represents a striking departure from past precedent on the part of the merchandising field,” Mr. Greenebaum stated. “It is the first time that members of this important field have ever attempted as a body to participate in any undertaking that has not been of a charitable nature and is a recognition of the grave situation which confronts thinking Americans in this country.”

GAST-GREEN

Announcement was made yesterday of the engagement of Miss Ruth Gast, daughter of Mr. and mrs. max Gast, of Perth Amboy, N. J., to Monroe Green, son of Mrs. Hannah Green, of South Amboy N. J. Miss Gast is a graduate of Syracuse University, class of 1931. She is a member of Phi Sigma Sigma sorority. Mr. Green is a member of the class of 1927, University of Pennsylvania. Wedding plans will be announced shortly.

MAX A. HAAS HEADS CORONA CONGREGATION

Max A. Haas, newly elected president of the North Side Hebrew Congregation, Corona, Long Island, was inducted into office last night at a meeting of the synagogue.
