Nine Jewish merchants in the Ukraine were murdered by a group of Ukrainians in revenge for the death of Semion Petlura, according to a report circulated by a Russian news agency regarded as an anti-Soviet agency. According to the report, the murder took place in the vicinity of Zhmerinka, where the merchants were on their way to market in the village, Krasnaya.
The murderers left a note saying that the merchants were killed to avenge the death of Petlura. The news agency reports that the Soviet police arrested eight persons, including a priest, suspected of the murder.
