Nine persons were killed and 10-20 injured today when a bomb exploded in the Jewish quarter of Cairo, Reuters reported from the Egyptian capital.
Immediately after the blast Egyptian police and troops surrounded the quarter and cordoned it off, keeping out huge crowds of people who attempted to enter.Although the situation appeared to be under control, police detachments throughout Cairo were placed on the alert, Reuters said.
