Brandeis University conducted its 12th annual commencement exercises yesterday awarding 327 baccalaureates and 98 graduate degrees.
Honorary degrees were awarded to McGeorge Bundy, special assistant to the President for national security; Eliahu Elath, president of Hebrew University; Alfred A. Knopf, publisher; Arthur L, Schlesinger, historian; John W. Gardner, president of Carnegie Corporation; Martha Graham, dancer and choreographer; U.S. Senator Margaret Chase Smith of Maine; Dr. Sidney Farber, founder of the Children’s Cancer Research Foundation of Boston; and Arthur Hays Sulzberger, board chairman of the New York Times.
