The letter in question only covered points already dealt with by the debate on November 17th., and the Prime Minister does not, therefore, propose to afford another special day for discussion, Mr. Philip Snowden, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, said in the House of Commons to-day in reply to Colonel Howard-Bury, who had asked whether in view of the change in the situation in Palestine created by the Premier’s letter to Dr. Weizmann, he would give a day for the discussion of the new position in Palestine.
Is it not the case, Colonel Howard-Bury persisted, that this letter is in fact a complete reversal of the policy of the White Paper and brings us back to the position of 1929 before the riots? In view of the serious position, will the Prime Minister not grant a debate?
Not at all, Mr. Snowden replied. The Prime Minister in his last answer gave a categorical denial.
It is a question of fact, Colonel Howard-Bury insisted.
