JEWISH EMIGRANTS WERE WARNED TODAY THAT THERE WERE NO IMMEDIATE POSSIBILITIES FOR SETTLEMENT IN THE CENTRAL AMERICAN REPUBLIC OF COSTA RICA, IN A STATEMENT ISSUED TODAY BY THE HILFSVEREIN DER JUDEN IN DEUTSCHLAND, CENTRAL JEWISH RELIEF ORGANIZATION.
THE STATEMENT REFERRED TO REPORTS THAT A 50,000-ACRE TRACT HAD BEEN PURCHASED BY THE REFUGEE ECONOMIC CORPORATION OF NEW YORK FOR ESTABLISHMENT OF AN AGRICULTURAL COLONY FOR JEWISH REFUGEES FROM GERMANY.
AS A RESULT OF PROPER INQUIRIES, THE HILFSVEREIN STATED, IT HAS BEEN ASCERTAINED THAT NO PRACTICAL POSSIBILITIES FOR SETTLEMENT CAN BE EXPECTED IN THE NEXT YEAR SINCE PLANS FOR SETTLEMENT HAVE NOT EVEN BEEN WORKED OUT.
