American Jews are “in no danger of persecution” such as is visited upon German Jews, said Harry Hershfield, humorist and cartoonist, in an address at the Jewish Community Center here.
The meeting was held under auspices of the United Jewish Committee to aid German refugees.
Louis Fabricant, executive member of B’nai B’rith and chairman of the Anti-Defamation League, called upon Jews to fight anti-Semitic propaganda, charging there is “an organized effort, apparently supplied with unlimited funds, to undermine in the minds of American Christians the position of the Jew.”
Discussing Hitler’s anti-Jewish program, Mr. Fabricant asserted nothing definite can be done to halt the exiling of Jews. He pointed out that protests made by Jews in all parts of the world have failed to effect any changes by the German government.
