A new Palestine Colonization Organization has just been formed here. The inaugural meeting was addressed by Rabbi Dr. Wilhelm Levy, Rabbi Ezra Munk and Mr. Davis Trietsch. Mr. Isak Halpern, who presided, said that the organization formed a neutral ground for Jews belonging to the most diverse parties and movements in Judaism, so that they could work together to give a new impetus to the Palestine work.
The organization is built on the idea of casting lots and has been named “Nachlath Gorol.” Members will pay one, three, five, ten or more marks weekly. The order in which the members will become entitled to a home in Palestine will be decided by casting lots. Each homestead will be valued at £300 and will include a house, garden, dairy farm, poultry farm, etc. The organization will also provide for social and economic requirements.
The organization is stated to have a membership of about 1,000 already, and applications for membership have been received from all over Germany and from abroad. The formation of local branches and of federations in the various countries is now in progress.
