Norris Weinberg, former publisher of the “Day”, who was a member of the Hias Delegation to Europe, has returned to New York.
Mr. Weinberg, together with the other members of the Hias Delegation, who left for Europe to investigate the situation of the several thousand Jewish emigrants left stranded by the new immigration law here, visited England, France and Germany.
In an interview with the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, Mr. Weinberg stated that efforts are now being made to facilitate the transportation of a large number of those refugees to Canada, for which permission has been obtained from the Canadian Government.
Negotiations were also carried on with the Government of France to allow a number of Jewish refugees stranded in French ports to remain in the country.
Mr. Weinberg brought back with him a detailed list of all the refugees who have relatives in America, and he will for the next several weeks devote himself to assisting the refugees.
Mr. Weinberg will be glad to answer any inquiry addressed to him at the office of the Hias from those whose relatives are among the refugees.
