North American Jewish federations are reporting a record launch to their 2002 campaigns, which kicked off last week during a mission to Israel and Ukraine. According to the federations’ United Jewish Communities, campaign chairs and directors announced opening gifts totaling $2.99 million, a 47 percent increase over the gift pledges made at the beginning of the 2001 campaign.
