Nazi authorities in Norway today announced that all arrested Norwegian Jews will be transported to occupied Lithuania. Jewish refugees from the Reich are being transported either to the extreme northern part of Norway or to Germany, they stated.
Among the Norwegian Jews arrested is Captain Harry Koritschinsky, honorary chairman of the Oslo Jewish Congregation and many prominent Jewish doctors, lawyers and musicians. The famous German-Jewish archaeologists, Borsch Levin, who was among the refugees deported from Oslo to Germany, died in the concentration camp at Oranieburg, according to reliable information reaching here today. He was sixty years old.
The Home for Jewish Aged in Oslo has been confiscated by the Quisling authorities and its president, Dr. Bernstein, is among the arrested Jewish leaders. Among the other Jewish communal buildings confiscated is the building of the Jewish Relief Association. Many private Jewish homes are reported to have been plundered in Oslo, Trondheim and other Norwegian cities during the mass-arrests of the Jews there. All the clothing of Ernest Glaser, first violinist of the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, was seized.
