Sir, David Maxwell-Fyfe, formarly chief British prosecutor at the Nuremberg War Crimes trial, will head the defense of two Jewish youths, Gerald Flamberg and John Winborne, who have been charged with an attempt on the life of fascist leader John Preen, it was confirmed here, today.
Laborite J.F.F. Platts-Mills, solicitor for the youths, demanded in court today that the case be disposed of as quickly as possible, declaring that the defendants are completely innocent. The youths are out on bail on condition that they do not attend any meeting of the “43 Group,” Jewish veterans anti-fascist organization. The trial will open on Jan. l5th.
