A license to prospect for rock phosphate and bituminous limestone over a large area in the neighborhood of the Dead Sea was granted today to Moses Novomejsky, one of the two owners of the concession for the development of the mineral salts in the Dead Sea. Both minerals are said to be plentiful in this region and are considered to be among Palestine’s most valuable mineral deposits. They are not included in the actual Dead Sea concession which is outside the terms of the mining ordinance.
While the Dead Sea concessionaires have development rights only for minerals actually in the sea, Mr. Novomejsky is now prospecting the area around the Dead Sea with a view to obtaining another concession.
