The liberation of Aba Achimeier, Zionist Revisionist leader, on the ground that the evidence against him was insufficient, is hailed by Jews in Palestine and other lands. On the basis of the flimsiest circumstantial evidence, Achimeier was kept in jail for about eleven months, charged with having inspired the assassination of Dr. Chaim Arlosoroff. For eleven months, during the preliminary investigations, which were conducted in the strangest manner, it was attempted to turn the murder of the eminent and popular labor leader, Arlosoroff, into a political assassination, into an act of terrorism sanctioned by the Revisionists for political purposes.

Writing of the Arlosoroff trial on April 26, I said in part as follows:

“Whether the accused Revisionists are guilty of the dastardly crime or not, there is no doubt that leaders of the Revisionist organization have had no hand in it, and could not have sanctioned it. The character of the leaders is well known to the Jewish world. Among these leaders are men who have devoted themselves as sincerely and unselfishly in behalf of the restoration and rehabilitation of Eretz Israel as any other of the outstanding Zionist leaders. They differ in their ideology of the restoration of Palestine, but terrorism cannot be part of any Jewish program in Palestine or elsewhere. Terrorism is the one thing that would defeat Jewish aspirations in Palestine.”

Now, after all the evidence against Achimeier has been presented, his handcuffs were removed and he was permitted to leave the court room, a free man. The court denied the motion of the counsel for defense, Horace Samuel, to free also the other two defendants, Abraham Stavsky and Zwi Rosenblatt, before the opening of the case for the defense. Stavsky and Rosenblatt are accused of premeditated murder, while Achimeier was charged with “having counselled and procured the murder of Arlosoroff.”

Judging from the course of the trial, despite the more than peculiar methods employed during the pr###minary investigation, the case against Stavsky and Rosenblatt will also collapse. At any rate, the political issue that was created in connection with the crime has already been ###iscredited by the freeing of Achimeier.

The mysterious murder of Dr.###aim Arlosoroff remains thus ### as enigmatic as before. But ###is now clear beyond a shadow ### doubt that the Revisionist ###ers have had no hand in the murder of the great Palestinian Jewish labor leader.

THE ALIENIST TEST

A Berlin despatch in The Sun states that a new wave of repression is rising in Germany, led by Joseph Goebbels, Minister of Propaganda and Enlightenment, and that to Germany’s friction with other governments over armaments and commerce is added the resentment of many different classes abroad over the repressions in Germany. According to this correspondent, the resentment is also growing in Germany. The party leaders find themselves fighting on three fronts at home. The opposition is thus classified:

1. Jews and merchants.

2. Nonpolitical organizations which have been suppressed or absorbed, such as the labor-unions, the churches and the fraternal societies.

3. Reactionaries, which in general covers the industrial interests, the big land owners and the influential Junker elements.

And Dr. Goebbels’ organ, Der Angriff, fanning the flames of anti-Semitic hate, publishes advice to Germans as to how to treat the Jews.

“You must follow the example of Dr. Goebbels when a Jew addresses a question to you,” the organ of the Minister of public “Enlightenment” says. “First act as if you did not hear him and gaze over his head as if looking for the distant land of Canaan. If he repeats the question, look at him in the eye and say nothing. If that is not enough, and he asks a third time, look him over slowly from head to foot and back again as if studying his strange anatomy. …We (meaning all Aryans) are witty enough. We want to have our fun out of our treatment of the Jews. We have only to set the tone and the Jew must accommodate himself to it.”

The acts and words of Hitler, Goering, Goebbels and Rosenberg indicate clearly that the present rulers of Germany are demented. If these rulers of Nazi Germany were to submit to an examination by outstanding non-Nazi and non-Jewish alienists, the world would become convinced that mad men are in control of the German people today.

HITLERITE JEWS

The Union of National Jews, the pro-Nazi group headed by Dr. Max Naumann, was officially notified by the supreme command of the Storm Troops that the application of the Union of National Jews for permission to hold field exercises was refused on the ground that “field exercises are only for those German Volksgenossen who radically and politically stand for our principles.” And the letter concluded with “Heil Hitler.”

The Naumann group had asked the chief of the Storm Troopers to receive a delegation of the Union, but the request was rejected.

The cowardly Jews under the leadership of Max Naumann, who are trying to lick the boots of the Nazis that kick the German Jews, ### even more contemptible than the Nazis. These cringing and crouching “Germans of the Mosaic faith” would have been Hitler’s most ardent allies if he had enlisted their aid in persecuting and exterminating the Ost Juden. To Hitler the Naumann followers are Jews. To the Jews they are a humiliating disgrace.
