On the occasion of the final victory over the Germans, High Commissioner Lord Gort announced today that a number of persons who are imprisoned for offenses “having a political background” will be pardoned.
Those released will receive a personal message from Lord Gort expressing the hope that the liberty which they are gaining will always be associated in their minds with those who fought to achieve the peace, and that they will demonstrate their gratitude by assuming the responsibilities of Palestinian citizens.
