A superior Nuremberg denazification court today confirmed the confiscation of the entire estate of Julius Streicher, premier Jew-baiter of the Nazi regime, who was hanged at Nuremberg after his conviction on war crimes charges. Among the various assets, valued at 500,000 deutschemarks, were 13 buildings in Nuremberg.
The trial of Nazis charged with having damaged and desecrated the only synagogue in the Bavarian town of Marktredwitz just before the High Holy Days this year opened today. The defendants are Max Rief, his wife Auguste, Max Dressel, Anton Hoyer, Ernst Kastel, and Anton Hohenberg. A local Jew testified that he saw all the defendants in the synagogue on the day of the attack. The prosecution stated that 20 witnesses would be called to prove its case.
Eduard Grosse, a racial persecutee of the Nazis, was beaten yesterday during a meeting of the National Democratic Party by one of the party spokesmen, Fritz Priester. During the beating, which occurred in Wiesbaden, the attacker threatened Grosse that he would “soon hang.”
