Shlomo Bickel, 73, author of many books of essays and literary criticism, died today at the age of 73. He was connected with the Day-Jewish Journal, New York Yiddish-language newspaper, as a commentator on current events and literary critic since 1940, Mr. Bickel was associate editor of the monthly magazine Die Zukunft ( The Future ) and a leading figure in Yivo. He came to New York in 1939 from Bucharest, Rumania where he was an editor and lawyer. Services will be held Friday at which Mr. Bickel will be eulogized by Yiddish poet Jacob Glatstein.
