The United States is negotiating a new loan to Israel, Red Fleet, the Soviet Navy newspaper, asserted today, describing that purported deal as further evidence of Washington plans to gain complete financial control over the new state. Israel, the organ added, is the keystone of present United States policy in the Middle East.
“In order to gain complete control of Israel’s economy,” the newspaper continued, “the United States is organizing mixed American-Israeli corporations.” It attributed to the Palestine Post a report of a new economic mission to Israel, representing an American corporation named the “Industrial Institute of Israel,” which recently visited Israel, and stated that the organization, composed of American-Israeli financiers and industrialists, would engage in financing the textile, chemical and transport industries and would also build hostels and other dwellings.
