Use of the term “Kosher” in advertising meats other than those prepared according to Orthodox Jewish religious regulations would be outlawed under the terms of an amendment to the present state law introduced in the State Assembly here. The amendment stipulates that violations would be punishable by a fine of $25 to $500.
“No person shall use, publicize, advertise or display any word or combination of words embracing the word ‘kosher’ in reference to the meat or meat preparations,” the proposed amendment states, “unless the product shall have been prepared under sanctions of the Orthodox Hebrew religious requirements.”
