Samuel Eichenbaum, 81, was called from retirement to become president of the Corning Board of Education. He has held many civic positions here since 1880. He was elected councilman back in 1882. Then followed two years as town treasurer, one four-year term as postmaster under President Cleveland, sixteen years as member and president of the Board of Education, six terms as mayor and another as postmaster under President Wilson.
